President Trump’s executive order to withhold funding from cities that do not comply with federal immigration law has been blocked by a federal judge in California.  US District Court Judge William Orrick ruled on Monday that Trump cannot set new conditions on spending approved by congress.  The order was previously blocked by a temporary hold.  This most recent ruling by Judge Orrick makes that hold permanent.

Eliot Engel made a statement on his congressional website about transgender hate crimes on the "Transgender Day of Remembrance" where he cited 25 transgender people who had been killed in hate crimes. The goal of this statement was to bring attention to the Equality Act. He is pleading for this law to be passed.

This all sounds well and good; however, why should one hate crime be treated any differently than any other hate crime? And, how will this law protect anyone from being killed?

The CIA still stands by its original claim, that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.  According to US intelligence agencies, Russia did this via propaganda that targeted American voters. 

One must note that these claims are not attempting to give the impression that anything was "hacked", contrary to thefake news regurgitated by the likes of MSNBC, CNN, and other left-wing propaganda factories.  The CIA says that they have "proof" of this interference, but let's attempt to put a couple of things in perspective here.

The FCC has recently relaxed it's media ownership rules, allowing for one company to own multiple companies in a region. The rules passed in a 3-2 vote. The new rules may be challenged in court, but, according to Variety Magazine, "if they survive, they will mark the most significant changes to media ownership regulations in a generation. They could lead to further consolidation and mergers among broadcasters, who have long argued that they need greater scale to compete with cable and internet companies for local ad dollars."

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed the house with 227 for the bill and 205 against on Thursday. Now it goes to the senate for a vote. The Senate will pass its own version, and then the differences will have to be reconciled.

Last year, Shonda Ponder, the editor of The Ponder News, had a great idea to have a Jesus Feast for the people around her. Because she lives across the street from the Randy Sam's Homeless Shelter in Texarkana, Texas/Arkansas, and right next door to the Friendship Center (which caters to the homeless by providing much needed everyday necessities), and because she had to work on Christmas and was thus unable to spend Christmas with her family but did not want to miss out on the festivities of the season, she decided to have her own "Jesus Feast".

Having been homeless before, Shonda has a deep heart for the Homeless in her community. Last year, she acted on a Bible parable where the Lord told his servants to go into the highways and get the less fortunate to come to his wedding feast. She felt the Lord was speaking to her, and prayed that the Lord, Himself would show up. 

​

He did. In a BIG way.

In a recent press release honoring D.C. Veterans, House Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) introduced a resolution honoring D.C. Veterans for their honorable sacrifices, even though they don't have voting rights, because D.C. isn't a state. She then called for a vote to change that.

The question, then, is should D.C. be made a state?

As Donald Trump was with the Japanese President on Monday, he referred to the Sutherland-Springs situation as a "mental health" situation, not a "gun situation". He even referred to the fact that it was a good thing that a guy had a gun to stop him with, gaining more criticism from the left, who have chosen to ignore the Sutherland hero who wielded an AR-15 for protection, saying that a pistol "wouldn't have worked" in stopping the gunman.

House Ways and Means Committee  Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX, 8th) introduced the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act – bold legislation to overhaul America’s tax code for the first time in 31 years. With this bill, a typical middle-income family of four, earning $59,000 (the median household income), will receive a $1,182 tax cut.
