Our People
Another inspirational offering is the documentary movie "Our People: The story of William and Catherine Booth (the founders of the Salvation Army).
Talk about people who decided that BEING the church was more important than GOING to church!
They are my heroes! I want to be like them!
William Booth said in his final call to Battle:
"While women weep, as they do now, I'll fight.
While children go hungry, as they do now, I'll fight!
While men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight!
While there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I'll fight!
I'll fight 'til the very end!"
Three days later, William Booth's casket was carried down the streets of London, with hundreds of thousands of people attending his funeral.
He didn't make an impression. He made a dent.
I want to be like him. I want to leave a dent, and then I want to go home.
This world is my hell. I want to take as many people to heaven with me as I can. I want to get them in line, just like he did, before I go.
I am sitting here passing the time, watching these inspirational documentaries and movies, in between doing some housework and praying.
As I have these thoughts and are inspired, I can't help but think that maybe this is why my transmission went out on my car. I needed to be reminded of where God wants me to go, what God wants me to do and why. I need the encouragement. I need the lessons that the lives of these people who came before me are teaching me.
It's not just about those people who are in the Bible. It's also about those who take what they learn from the Bible and have put it into action.
I want to be just like them!
