Help is on the Way
It is 5 AM. I am up and rarin' to go. I'm also hungry. I might stop by the Mission today.
I can't remember my number, but they should have it at the desk. After all, the Mission isn't just about helping the homeless, right? It's also about helping the needy not to have to choose between homelessness and being fed.
And, if I have a few bucks to spend on food, I'll let them have it. It might not be enough to pay for eating out, but a couple of bucks helps them buy groceries that can help feed more than me.
Part of my my ministry is going to be what it always has been, to help others to help themselves by providing them the information they need to get help. I might not be able to help you personally, but I know where you can get help, and that is just as important as giving it to you myself.
One of the things I remember from "back in the day" is not knowing what to do in situations I found myself in. Homelessness was one of those situations. I learned a lot being homeless. Because I learned a lot, I can pass on the knowledge.
And, I am starting to think that that is part of why I am in the situation I am in right now. God wants to remind me that helping people to help themselves is more dignifying and right than enablling them to stay in the situation they are in.
That doesn't mean that I don't help them if I have it to give, though. Having it to give is often the platform for getting them to hear my suggestions for them.
But, right now, I am in need, myself. So, I'm going to take the opportunity to use that to learn something that may help others in the future.
Dear Lord, Thank You for being my Provider and my Teacher.
Part of living abundantly is the excitement I feel when I learn something new that I can use, and help others with. If I have nothing else to be thankful for, Lord, it is that.
But, I have a lot to be thankful for. I am mostly thankful that I am still in healthy and able enough to be able to learn and grow in knowledge and in stature, financially and otherwise. Thank You for Your guidance in my life. I firmly believe that no matter where I am, physically, mentally or financially, it is because You want me there for a reason. Where ever I find myself is the best place I can be to learn what You have to show me.
I thank You for yesterday, that I can see the light at the end of my tunnel, and that I can do something productive while I am waiting for my car to be fixed.
I pray that You are with my children and guide them toward You, showing them the love and care You have shown me, whatever it takes. I ask that you do the same for my lists and that You keep my lists short.
Lead me, guide me, show me the way, and help me forgive others as You forgive me.
Give me the opportunity to help build Your Kingdom up here on earth as it is in Heaven.
In Jesus's Name I pray, AMEN!
