"Shonda always wanted to be a journalist and never found the door to private companies, so, Being the Ponder she is, she built her own door, had a set of keys made so door could open both directions, and handed the keys to the public and said come in and feel welcome and warm, for God visits often. The law protects here, and I am here to hear your demands. PROUD OF MY LITTLE GIRL

Mast: U.S. Sugar Wants Your Water, They’ve Enlisted Congress To Steal It For Them

Source: U.S. Representative Brian Mast (R-FL, 18th)

May 8, 2020

The problem is that U.S. Sugar wants your water — every other piece of the system be damned — and they’ve enlisted Congress to steal it for them. Using the coronavirus pandemic as cover, they are hoping nobody will notice that they’ve seized this moment to try again to hijack Florida’s water for their own profit. If they succeed, it will mean more discharges from Lake Okeechobee, more toxic algal blooms in our estuaries and less clean water for the Everglades. No Floridian should accept this.

Baker-Polito Administration, Partners in Health, Public Health Officials Provide Update on Community Tracing Collaborative

Source: Massachusetts Governor’s Office

May 8, 2020

If an individual tests positive for COVID-19, the MA COVID Team will reach out by phone to connect the confirmed case with support and resources necessary for quarantine, and to identify any close contacts that may have been exposed. As the CTC continues its contact tracing work to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, it is critical that Massachusetts residents answer the phone when a contact tracer calls or texts. Contact tracers will only reach out from phone numbers with 833 or 857 area codes, and the phone’s caller ID will say MA COVID Team.

Federal judge allows Massachusetts gun stores to open despite governor's order

Source: World Net Daily

May 7, 2020

The coronavirus crisis doesn’t trump the Constitution.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker was the latest official to get that lesson in constitutional law on Thursday when a federal judge announced Baker had overstepped his bounds with an executive order that closed gun stores by lumping them in with other businesses deemed “nonessential” by the powers that be.

MANCHIN BILL ENSURES DANGER PAY FOR MARSHALS ABROAD

Source: Senator, Joe Manchin, III - (D - WV)

May 7, 2020

“Every day our U.S. Marshals put themselves in harm’s way to ensure our safety. Currently, U.S. Marshals are stationed in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Columbia, all posts that would be eligible if Marshals qualified for danger pay. The Danger Pay for U.S. Marshals Act will ensure that those Marshals who are putting themselves at risk to secure our safety are compensated for their efforts. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass this commonsense legislation,” said Senator Manchin.

Congresswoman Elaine Luria (VA-02) joined Congressman Troy Balderson (OH-12) in calling on IRS Commissioner Retting and Treasury Secretary Mnuchin to address ongoing accessibility issues for constituents without internet access. Without access to the online portal, these constituents are unable to receive timely information or provide updates to the IRS in order to receive their Economic Impact Payment (EIP). Currently, the IRS does not provide constituents without internet access the option of calling the agency to update their banking or address information in order to receive their Economic Impact Payment (EIP) in a timely manner.

Lucas Joins Peterson, Bi-Partisan Delegation In Introducing Universal Broadband Act

Source: U.S. Representative Frank Lucas (R-OK, 3rd)

May 5, 2020

Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) joined House Committee on Agriculture Chairman Collin Peterson (D-MN) and Dean of the U.S. House of Representatives Don Young (R-AK) in introducing The Universal Broadband Act. The Universal Broadband Act will ensure rural Americans have the opportunity to access reliable broadband services by expanding the Universal Service Fund (USF) contribution base to include broadband services, rather than the current outdated model that draws support solely from telephone services. The costs of building out service to areas without adequate broadband continues to rise, while the current base that contributes to the USF is declining. This has resulted in an increasingly growing contribution factor, overburdening those who are required to contribute.

Wrestling with Politics

Source: Shonda Ponder Enterprises

May 7, 2020

I am starting to come to the conclusion that all that is happening in politics is a show. You know, like when you sit down to watch wrestling?

You have the one side yelling and screaming at the other "Hey, I'm great, you are scum and I'm gonna beat you!" and the other side yelling back "Hey You are scum, I'm greater than you, and I'm gonna show you!"

For the first time in my life, I'm watching politics for it's entertainment value.

What's wrong with this picture?

And..isn't that scary to anyone but me?

So I did a search on YouTube and found this...hmmmm...guess I'm NOT the only one thinking like this!

Rep. Mike Levin Leads Letter to House Appropriations Leaders Calling for Increased Funding to Support Domestic Violence Survivors

Source: U.S. Representative Mike Levin (D-CA, 49th)

May 7, 2020

As people stay home to avoid the spread of COVID-19, victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault are particularly at risk. Lockdowns are keeping victims trapped in their homes with their abusers, away from the resources they need to be safe. Child abuse victims are also stuck at home, away from the teachers, doctors, and counselors that might recognize the signs of suspected child abuse or neglect. While the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act made important investments in the Family Violence Prevention Services Act and in the National Domestic Violence Hotline, the bill did not include financial support for programs such as Family Justice Centers.
